Seasons, Festivals & Events
While Texas turns up the heat in the summer, it doesn't seem to slow anyone down. On any given day year-round, Austinites are out in droves enjoying their parks, hike and bike trails, and numerous outdoor dining options. The city's calendar is packed with live music, cultural events, celebrations, and several festivals worth planning a trip around.
Seasons
Since the weather in Austin runs the range from sunny and mild, to blistering hot and violently stormy, it's best to be prepared. Keep water, sunscreen, bug repellent, a hat, sunglasses, and loose clothing on hand to stay safe and comfortable in the heat and sunshine. Be mindful of storms, flooding, and tornado warnings before you plan any outdoor activities.
Festivals & Events
If you are lucky enough to be in town at the right time and get tickets, Austin’s festivals and events are as impressive as they are fun.
From big multi-weekend festivals like Austin City Limits Festival (ACL) to the breezy local events like the ABC Kite Festival or Hot Luck, the food and music fest organized by Aaron Franklin of Franklin and dozens of local partners.
You'll find more details on these and plenty more events and in the Austin Chronicle or Austin 360.
