O. Henry Museum
For witty literati
William Sidney Porter was many things in his life – a convicted embezzler to Austin officials and simply O. Henry, “master of the short story,” to the rest of us.
This little museum, housed in the charming 1886 Queen Anne-style cottage he lived in for two years at the end of the 1800’s, contains a small collection of memorabilia from Porter’s life.
Docent-led tours of this National Literary Landmark are probably most interesting to wordsmiths and the super literary.
The annual O. Henry Pun-Off pays homage to the writer’s wise-cracking and witticism and is a hoot.
