Tipping
Always in good form
Americans do a great deal of tipping as tipping is necessary to bring the wages of those in the service professions up to - and sometimes over - the minimum wage.
Therefore, it is customary to tip between 15% to 20% of the pre-tax bill in restaurants. Thank hotel housekeeping with at least $2 to $5 per night. Have a dollar or two ready to give employees who help you with your bags at the airport or hotel or serve you a beer at the bar.
Essentially, if you benefited from the service you received, please tip generously.
