Accommodation
Australia has a wide range of accommodation, with the market split three ways:
-
Budget offerings include hostels, common in major cities and popular coastal towns like Byron Bay, though less so in the Outback. Caravan parks and campgrounds are popular in beach towns and national parks, though always check if advanced reservations and/or permits are required. Homestays such as Airbnb offer good alternatives across the country.
-
Mid-range options range from bed and breakfasts in cities, towns and wine regions to increasingly stylish mid-range hotel chains like Ibis Styles in major urban areas. Basic motels are common in smaller towns. Booking sites likes Airbnb offer a good range of self-contained apartments, homes and holiday cottages.
