Lune Croissanterie
World's finest croissants (b,l; $)
Lune is never short a queue; a forgivable inconvenience given that The New York Times proclaimed the patisserie’s croissants ‘the finest you will find anywhere in the world’. Made from scratch in a climate-controlled lab in inner-city Fitzroy, their practically flawless. (Some put down to the precision to baker Kate Reid’s former life as a racing car engineer).
Head in early to score Lune’s twice-cooked almond croissants or lemon-curd cruffins, the right start to any Melbourne morning. Those who don’t mind parting with $75 can book the Lune Lab experience, which guarantees a three-course pastry flight and unlimited specialty coffee overlooking the state-of-the-art lab.
There’s a second smaller Lune outlet on Russell St in central Melbourne, with a limited selection of pastries.
