Kindersley-Sinclair Col
Kootenay NP's best day-hike (7hrs/18km/moderate)
A sure source of elation, the views from the top of the Kindersley-Sinclair Col are exceptional, with endless peaks of Banff and Jasper and Yoho National Parks fading away into the horizon.
The best way to tackle the hike is by going up the hard 10km Kindersley Pass Trail, which really steepens towards the Kindersley–Sinclair Col. From this point it’s worth heading up to an outcrop to the southeast (30min return) for views. They’re so remarkable that it’s a good idea to take a map to help identify some of the peaks.
Back at the Kindersley–Sinclair Col, you can then descend down the well-defined 6.5km Sinclair Creek Trail back to Hwy-93, which you can follow west for another 1.2km to return to the Kindersley Pass Trailhead.
