Horse Racing, Barbados Turf Club
A day out at the Garrison Savannah
Away from the beach, there are few more entertaining days out than at the Garrison Savannah, watching the horse-racing. Tickets are cheap – except on Gold Cup day, and a seat in the grandstand offers great views of the horses both parading and racing. Plus, wherever you look, you’re surrounded by splendid historical buildings.
The races are hugely popular with Barbadians from all walks of life, who picnic round the railings and pack the stands. There’s local food for sale in the grounds or you can bring a picnic. Around 25 race days are spread across three seasons that run throughout the year.
Races from 1.30pm
Adults: Grounds BD$15–25; Stands BD$25–60; Children free
