Surfside
Sports bar on the sand (l, d; $–$$)
This cheerfully painted no-frills wooden beach bar, bang on the strand in the centre of Holetown, is a tourist magnet. Inside, Surfside is more sports bar, with Premiership football matches always on the screens. But grab a picnic table out on the deck, as you sip your sundowner.
Rum punches are a tad sweet but the cocktails are strong, and prices are reasonable, given the location.
Happy hour is 5–6pm, but get a seat early anyway on Fridays for the live music, and on Sundays for a steel pan band, which adds to the mellow Caribbean vibe. If you need a bite to eat, some average burgers, sandwiches and salads are on offer. They may take a while to materialise but that gives you time to really soak up the relaxing sea view through the palm trees.
On the beach, behind the police station at Holetown – check the link for transport details.
Mon–Fri from noon, Sat & Sun from 9am, until late.
