Café Utopia
Oasis of tranquillity (b,l; $)
Located on the site of a former fire station, Utopia is a delightful walled courtyard café in the historic synagogue complex. Providing an oasis of tranquillity midst the bustle of Bridgetown, it’s the perfect spot for a mid-morning latte and a slice of cake – though there’s also a decent bar.
The mainly international fare of pancakes, omelettes or French toast (for breakfast), and pastas, salads and burgers (for lunch) sit alongside more Caribbean flavours such as grilled sweet potatoes, curried channa (chickpeas) and fish bakes. All is nicely presented and service is friendly and attentive.
