Seasons, Festivals & Events

The Cook Islands boast a warm and sunny climate all year round.

Rarotonga’s latitude is 21 degrees south of the equator. In the northern hemisphere, Hawai’i is of comparable latitude.

Summer (Nov-Apr) can be considered the off-season for visitors - the biggest visitor markets are NZ and Australia and this is also their summer. Winter (May-Oct) is the ‘visitor season’ for Kiwis and Aussies escaping their winter.

You won’t need to bring much in the way of clothing. Bring whatever you’re likely to find comfortable - you won’t be needing much formal attire!

Consider trying to avoid visiting during New Zealand and Australian school holiday periods, when flights and accommodation are likely to be packed and expensive.

Summer: November to April

Winter: May to October
