Aitutaki Shopping

Understand this before you go – you’re headed to Aitutaki for the lagoon, not shopping!

For self-caterers, there are basic stores such as Maina Superstore in Arutanga, plus a scattering of stores like Baxters around the island, which sell foodstuffs and alcohol - but they’re fairly basic. There are frozen goods that are shipped in, plus fresh local fruit and vegetables. If you’re going to have a hankering for something extravagant, bring it with you.

Resorts have restaurants, meaning that guests are unlikely to be out buying groceries.

In terms of souvenir or clothes shopping, your options are very, very limited.

Bring your own medicines – supplies are limited (see pic!).
