St Domnius’s Day (Sudajma)
A spring fair on Split’s waterfront (May 7)
The day of the city’s protector is marked with celebratory church procession, outdoor concerts, and a huge seafront market with stalls selling local arts, crafts and deli nibbles.
The saint in question (Domnius, or Dujam in Croatian) was an early Christian martyr, put to death by Emperor Diocletian while serving as Bishop of Salona in 304AD.
