Maritime Museum of Croatia
Maritime history
Located in the palace of Rijeka’s Hungarian-appointed governor, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral (Pomorski i povijesni muzej Hrvatskog primorja) covers regional history on several floors, with an understandably strong accent on seafaring and shipbuilding.
There are model boats galore, covering everything from traditional fishing craft to twentieth-century tankers and ocean liners. Occupying pride of place is an original life jacket from the RMS Titanic – picked up by a sailor from the Carpathia, the Rijeka-harboured ship that went to the Titanic’s aid and picked up survivors.
Open: Monday 09:00 - 16:00, Tues - Sat 09:00 - 20:00, Sun 09:00 - 13:00
Tickets: €4
