Čok, Novigrad
Gourmet seafood (d; €€€)
The sign of the fish makes it pretty clear that this is a seafood restaurant; and it’s a pretty upmarket one at that. Fresh fish (grilled, baked or stewed according to requirements), scampi from the Kvarner Gulf and Istrian mussels are the main stars on the menu, although the soups and pasta dishes also offer convincing insights into the qualities of Istrian cuisine.
Attention to the small details (such as quality olive oils on the table) help to give the place its character.
Čok is on the expensive side, but it does come with a reputation (and a collection of Michelin plaques to prove it). There aren’t many tables inside or out so you’re advised to reserve. Note that fish and shellfish are priced by weight so do check before ordering.
