Tours explain how important slate produced at these caverns was to the Industrial Revolution. You then clamber down 60 steps and head deep into the hillside to discover massive underground chambers.
The showpiece is the beautifully-lit underground lake – complete with row boat and gin clear, greeny-blue water.
