Levant Mine
Working steam engine & Cornish mine
The ruined mine buildings at Levant perch on West Cornwall’s rugged cliffs. A trio of neighbouring abandoned tin and copper workings have seen the area dubbed the county’s ‘tin coast’.
Levant Mine
Levant Mine has been worked since at least the 1740s and operated until the 1930s. The highlight of the guided tour is seeing the 1840s beam engine in action – it’s the only still-steaming beam engine in the world.
You also get to head into the Man Engine tunnel where 31 men died in an accident in 1919, gaze down mine shafts and explore other buildings of this sprawling cliff-top mining site.
