Spring: March, April & May

Edinburgh's spring starts slowly in rainy and unpredictable March, then gathers momentum over April and May, with average daytime temperatures rising from a chilly 7ºC/45ºF to a more reasonable 16ºC/61ºF over the three months.

Meadows

Spring is officially welcomed into the city by the Beltane, a theatrical rendition of a pagan celebrations held on Calton Hill on April 30th.

One popular thing to do while waiting for things to warm is watch rugby, with Edinburgh pubs teeming on selected Februrary and March weekends for the Six Nations tournament. Some games are played at Murrayfield Stadium, which is also the venue for the Scottish Rugby Union Cup Final, Scotland's showpiece club rugby event, in April.
