Budget: Hostels & Homestays

Budget offerings include Hostels in central locations and homestays (Airbnb and the like), generally a little further out.

Hostels

Edinburgh has around 45 hostels – accommodation with shared bedrooms – and most are of a good standard, with shared kitchens, common rooms and free wifi the norm too.

Many also boast great locations in prime sightseeing areas of city, but their greatest strength is, as ever, as a sociable place to meet and trade tips with other travelers.

Homestays

But, if you want a bit more peace, easy parking, or are travelling with a group, consider a homestay via a site like Airbnb. Most are a little further out of the city centre, but are rarely inconvenient.
