Railway & Communications Museum
Tracks of history
Built in 1904, Haapsalu’s railway station saw its last passenger service in 1996, but remains an enduring monument to the Tsarist Empire’s belle epoque - not least because of the elegant 214-metre-long canopy above the platform, built to shelter royal arrivals from the unpredictable Baltic weather.
Ensconced in the former imperial waiting room, the Railway and Communications Museum (Raudtee- ja Sidemuuseum) has a modest but engrossing collection of tickets, uniforms and travel posters, and there are several vintage locomotives parked out the back.
Open. Wednesday - Sunday 11:00 - 17:00
Tickets: €5
