Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
Chamonix
Chamonix is a mountain resort at the foot of the highest peak in Europe, Mont Blanc, and is in fact officially known as Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. One of Europe’s most famous resorts, although not purpose built as such, Chamonix is well known for its skiing facilities and access to nearby summits by cable car, in particular the Aiguille du Midi, which offers stunning views of the Alpes especially Mont Blanc itself.
Chamonix, tucked into a corner of France just below Lake Geneva, gives access to the Mont Blanc Tunnel leading south to Courmayeur in Italy and also to Switzerland in the north east.
