The Devil's Village
This traditional village resort located at 1750m in the Haute Maurienne on the banks of the River Arc and on the edge of the Vanoise National Park is famous for its wood carvings.
Activities available include cross country skiing, sled dogs, biathlon, snowshoeing and carriage rides in Winter, while in Summer, hiking, fishing, mountain biking and lake swimming are available.
Check out the frescoes at St-Anthony’s Church but most of all look out for the Bessans Devil! Carving sculptures goes back at least 400 years but the most famous are sculptures of the Le Diable or the Devil which has become the emblem of the village.
