The Gard Provençal in 2 Days
A Roadtrip from Uzès to Nîmes
This Uzès to Nîmes road trip itinerary in France's Languedoc follows the route that Roman engineers used to bring water into the City. However, fascinating Uzès, the amazingly well-preserved Pont du Gard Aqueduct and the stunning historic centre of Nîmes are the real stars. All three are different. Uzès is a small city with interesting medieval architecture and a great market. Nîmes is a large city with a magnificent Roman heritage and a great buzz. Finally, the Pont du Gard is an absolutely stunning piece of Roman civil engineering.
For this itinerary it is advisable to have a copy of the Michelin Departmental Map 339. Also when you arrive, obtain city plans from the tourist offices of both Uzès and Nîmes. While this trip could be done in one day by car it is advisable to take two days and stay in either Uzès or Nîmes.
