Plage de Fossan, Menton
A Beach With a View
Menton is the most easterly resort on the French Riviera and is indeed in many ways more Italian than French! This stunning Vieux Ville on the frontier with Italy, has several splendid beaches some of which are overlooked by the picturesque old town with its impressive Baroque Basilique S-Michel-Archange.
Located on the Esplanade Francis Palmera, the Plage de Fossan and adjacent to the Jean Cocteau Museum, this large beach is very popular and close to the old town. It is the only smoke free beach in Menton and lifeguarded in high season and while there is no WC on Fossan, there is one on the Plage du Marche, the next beach along.
The beach is mostly pebbles, although it can be accessed by some decking on which you can sunbathe if you prefer.
Don’t miss the interesting statue of Ulysses in the adjacent Parc de Fossan.
