The Author
Ever since she started her own newspaper at age eight, selling it to neighbors who had no choice but to subscribe, Jane Simon Ammeson www.janeammeson.com has loved to write.
She’s now upped her game writing about travel, food, history for newspapers, magazines and Websites and is the author of 17 books including the recently released Lincoln Road Trip: Back-roads Guide to America’s Favorite President, which was nominated for a Finalist for the 2019 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards in the Travel category and took third place in the Best Travel Book in the Lowell Thomas Journalism Awards.
Her other books include Hauntings of the Underground Railroad: Ghosts of the Midwest and Murders that Made Headlines. Crimes of Indiana. She also authored A Jazz Age Murder in Northwest Indiana, a true crime book about a murder that took place in her hometown.
She writes a weekly food column for the Herald Palladium and has both book and travel columns for the Times of Northwest Indiana. She writes frequently about food for other journals and magazines including Edible Michiana and is a James Beard Award Tasting Judge. She also authors TouchScreenTravel’s Indiana’s Best app and is the editor of the Midwest Travel Journalists Association’s newsletter
Jane is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), International Wine Food and Travel Writers (IFWTWA) and Midwest Travel Journalists Association (MTJA). Her home base is on the shores of Lake Michigan in Southwest Michigan.
