Angola
Alive with the past
Anchored by an 1868 courthouse known for its distinctive arched windows and double bracketed cornices, Angola, Indiana, the county seat of Steuben County home to 101 lakes, is alive with the sense of its past.
The bustling downtown features not one, but two move theaters – the Strand and the Brokaw with their wonderful old fashioned marquees – both open for over 60 years and playing first run films daily, a 70-foot Soldiers Monument honoring the 1278 men who fought in the Civil War (the most from any county in the state) and a myriad of shops and restaurants housed in Victorian era buildings.
Enjoy the view of the old fashioned town circle while savoring breakfast or lunch at Sutton's Deli and visit the Bent Fork Art Studio for an eclectic array of funky and vintage arts and crafts, clothing, paintings and more.
