Goshen

An old fashioned Main Street

Goshen, with its 19th century store fronts and eclectic restaurants and shops, is a small college town located in the heart of Amish country and the perfect place for the festival.

The town has a beautiful Greek Revival Courthouse that dates back to 1868 and its store fronts, most wonderfully preserved, are the best of the Victorian commercial style. Goshen is one of those lucky towns where the Main Street retailers appear to be thriving.

There is a large shoe store, clothing stores and lots of art galleries. Warm up after strolling in the cold at the Electric Brew for Fair Trade coffees, black and green teas, pastries and sandwiches and a wide selection of works by local artisans. The Electric Brew also features music on some evenings.

A definite stop when browsing downtown is the Olympia Candy Kitchen on Main Street with its red and white striped awning and long history of being the place to go for homemade candies and breakfast and lunch at the old fashioned soda fountain. The place, with tin ceilings and old neon signs, opened in downtown Goshen in 1912.
