Patoka Lake
Watersports & camping around a reservoir
The 8000-acre Patoka Lake, the second largest reservoir lake in the state, is surrounded by a 26,000-acre park perfect for camping, hiking and biking.
For day trippers and those wanting to see fall colors, boat rides are available at Patoka Lake Marina which offers wine cruises regularly during warm weather.
Houseboats
Or you can spend your vacation aboard one of the houseboats and floating cabin available both at Patoka Lake Marina and Hoosier Hills Marina.
Explore the many inlets and nice beaches, anchor, jump in the water, visit other marinas on the lake, sight bald eagles (honest) and then moor at the home marina at night.
And with high speed Internet and TV, the kids never get bored.
There are also houseboat rentals at Hoosier Hills Marina on the other side of the lake.
Hotels & resorts
It's also just down the road from French Lick Resort and West Baden Springs Resort, two marvelously restored turn of the 19th century hotels that are unbelievable (West Baden had the largest domed ceiling in the world until the Super Dome was built) and wonderful golf courses.
Get a group and head to Patoka4Season Resort for a peaceful stay.
Ten miles of paved biking trails wind along the lake which has 161 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 20 feet.
