Turkey Run State Park
Nature & history
A spectacular state park filled with craggy canyons, a wide gentle creek, covered bridges, historic buildings and lots of outdoor activities.
Activities
Saddle up at the Saddle Barn which offers guided trail rides on the park's horses.
Enjoy a meal and spend the night at the historic timber and stone Turkey Run Inn, built in 1919. Take a dip, if it's summer, in the Olympic sized swimming pool. Take a hike or go fishing.
Paddling
Be sure to take a canoe or kayak on the broad and slow moving Sugar Creek which meanders through the beautiful Turkey Run State Park.
Paddlers pass underneath several of the covered bridges (up to four depending upon the length of the trip). The creek is easy to navigate and the views of the rock formations absolutely beautiful.
Historic sites
Visit the park's historic sites including Lieber Cabin, located on Sunset Point, and built in 1848, a 1871 log church, the 1882 Narrows Covered Bridge and the Captain Lusk home built in 1841.
