Noto Peninsula 能登半島
Rugged seaside scenery & rural life
The Noto-hantō, extending about 100km north into the Sea of Japan, is known for its coastal scenery and rural atmosphere, with its seclusion being one of its top features. With limited public transportation, it’s best explored with your own wheels.
Scenery along the rugged, rocky Noto Kongo Coast, on the western side, and the Okunoto Coast, at the tip of the peninsula, is especially impressive.
Wajima, famous for its morning markets and lacquerware, is the main city in the north of the peninsula, while Wakura Onsen is a popular resort on the eastern coast.
For a fun and unusual Japan experience, drive along an 8km stretch of sandy beach at Chirihama.
