Seijin-no-hi 成人の日

Coming-of-Age Day for new adults (2nd Mon in Jan)

Celebrated on the 2nd Monday in January, Seijin-no-hi is the collective birthday for those who have turned 20 between April 2 of the previous year and April 1 of the current year, and reached the age of majority.

Celebrated throughout Japan, young women celebrate by wearing furisode, a style of kimono with long sleeves that hang down, and zōri sandals; young men wear a traditional hakama or a suit and tie.
