Hyakumangoku 金沢百万石まつり

Colourful weekend in Kanazawa (early-Jun)

hyakumangoku 6

Kanazawa’s biggest festival celebrates local glory days with a parade from the station to Kanazawa Castle. Expect dancing and music in the streets, drumming performances, historical reenactments, a bonfire and Noh performances.

Tea ceremonies take place at Kenrokuen Gardens, known as one of Japan’s three most famous gardens, and children's lantern drum parades are held throughout the city.

Kanazawa can be reached by bullet train from Tokyo in around 2 1/2 hours. The city is known for its well-preserved Edo-era districts.

Summer: June, July & Aug 夏
