Le Jardin Secret
Modern garden on the site of an old palace - الحديقة السرية
The Jardin Secret (Secret Garden) is a modern landscaped garden on the site of a sixteenth-century palace.
The buildings around the garden were part of a nineteenth-century mansion. It was built on the site of the sixteenth-century original for a judge and royal courtier who was later poisoned on the king's orders as part of a palace intrigue.
Some of the buildings around the garden, with their fine decor, are original, but the garden itself is not. Designed by London landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, it dates from 2016. So, pleasant though it may be, and despite its misleading description of itself as an open-air museum, don't imagine that there's anything historical about it. or that it is in any way an original old garden (as, for example, Moulay Abdeslam’s is).
