Terrasse des Épices
Laid-back dining above the hubbub (l,d; $$$)
The Terrasse des Épices isn't really a terrace of spices, but a spacious terrace restaurant in the heart of the Medina, close to the main souks.
From a courtyard just off Souk Cherifa, you pop up a staircase and emerge onto a large terrace with tables largely set in little bays for privacy. It's a nicely laid-back space, particularly in contrast with the relentless bustle down below.
The food is good but not cheap. Dishes include tanjia (jugged beef) ravioli (245dh) or prawn mhamsa (king-size couscous) (210dh). Alcohol is served, so you can have wine with your meal if you so desire.
The Terrasse des Épices can get quite full in the evenings, so you may want to book ahead, but that does mean you'll have a table allocated without being able to choose it, and not everyone is happy with their allocations.
