Dar Cherifa
Café, restaurant and cultural centre (l,d; $$$)
Hidden down a back street near the Mouassine Mosque, Dar Cherifa is a café (well, salon de thé), restaurant, art gallery and cultural centre in a beautiful sixteenth-century riad.
Run by the riad-letting agency, Marrakech Riads, Dar Cherifa is a wonderful old Saadian riad from the sixteenth century. It’s now a cultural centre, with concerts and exhibitions (usually free), and it’s also an art gallery with paintings for sale, or just to look at. It’s worth popping in anyway to have a cup of tea and admire the building.
Dar Cherifa also has a good restaurant, serving Moroccan cuisine with a modern twist. Typical dishes are chicken with ginger (160dh) or monkfish seafood pastilla (220dh). They also have veg and non-veg set menus (260dh and 350dh respectively).
