Comptoir Darna
Bar, nightclub & restaurant (d; $$$)
Comptoir Darna is a stylish bar and restaurant with a cabaret floorshow, and a dancefloor upstairs with DJs.
The food at Comptoir Darna is usually good, if pricey, with dishes like “weeping tiger” (steak in ginger sauce, 290dh) or veg couscous (205dh). But really what you come here for is the chic ambience and the lively floorshow, which includes live musicians and belly dancers. The dancers mingle with the diners, and even balance candlesticks on their heads.
The bar opens at 7pm and the restaurant from 7.30pm, but the floorshow doesn’t start until around 9pm or later, so it’s wise not to arrive too early. Alternatively, give dinner a miss and just come for the bar and club. There’s also quite a cosy open-air patio, and sheeshas (hookah pipes) are available, with fruit-flavoured tobacco. As you might expect, they also do a slick line in cocktails.
