Rôtisserie de la Paix
Great grills & garden dining (l,d; $$$)
Founded back in 1949, La Rôtisserie de la Paix is a long-standing tourist favourite, with good steaks and grills.
As the name rôtisserie suggests, this is a grill house, and they specialize in meat. There’s steak (filet mignon 140dh), there's chicken, and there are brochettes (skewer kebabs), all cooked over a wood-fired barbecue. There’s usually also a decent fish option. The pizzas and pasta dishes aren’t great however, so you’re best advised to stick with what they do well, which is steaks and grills. On Fridays they serve couscous.
There’s an indoor salon, cosy with a fire in winter, and there’s a sweet garden area with peacocks, ducks and guinea fowl. Service is variable, but usually decent enough.
One litte downside here, when it comes to paying, is that they like to play the old “card machine isn’t working” routine. They’ll soon find a working machine if you insist on it, but if you do pay in cash, be sure to check your change.
