Chez Cora
Best breakfast in town? (b,l; $$)
Opened in 1987 with a mission to serve "the highest quality ingredients... (and) give people the best ... breakfasts in town" Cora (named for founder Cora Mussely Tsouflidou) now boasts a chain of around a dozen breakfast places in Montreal alone.
At this point that's only a tenth of their Canadian outlets, but don't be put off by it being a chain. The breakfasts really are top notch: the selection of eggy items, French toast, crepes, waffles and so on is virtually encylopedic and portions are huge and liberal with healthy fruit.
Prices are reasonable too (mains average about $13 and include coffee), all of which helps to make it perennially popular.
There's another location is in the Gay Village at 1017 Rue Ste. Catherine E.
