Montreal Casino
Ritzy gambling venue
The two iconic buildings at the centre of Parc Jean Drapeau serve to remind of Expo 67. Here the futuristic-looking former French pavilion and the boxy reflective gold-mirrored Quebec pavilion speak of dreams past, while all the activity within them is now about future dreams since they now house the Montreal Casino.
This glitzy over-18s-only establishment has all the gambling stables – slots, dice games, keno, roulette, poker and blackjack – and can become crowded on weekend evenings, though there should never be any rush since the casino is open all hours, all year.
To really make a trip of it, there’s the option of visiting one of the casino's clutch of bars or restaurants, of which Le Montreal is the fanciest: a seafood grill with splendid city views.
