Le Jardin Nelson
Crépes and Jazz (l,d; $$)
In a land of touristy and over-priced Old Montreal places, Jardin Nelson stands out as a spot you'd go to wherever it was in town.
But it does make the most of its location, with its terrace on Place Jacques Cartier a lovely place to hang out with a glass of wine for some Parisian-style people-watching.
Alternatively, most of the rest of the seating is in an interior courtyard which is blessed by non-stop live jazz.
The menu's mainly focussed on a broad and imaginative variety of crepes. Choose from the likes of seafood; rabbit; Lake Brome duck confit; or get the sweet maple-syrup covered Nelson Crepe with its delicious apple, cinnamon, bacon and cheese filling.
Since Le Jardin Nelson is almost all based around outdoor seating (covered & heated) the place closes for winter (mid-Oct–mid-April).
