Conway
historic town
The small historic town of Conway is the county seat of Horry County and located west of Myrtle Beach. Conway is on the way for many visitors driving from the north or west, although bypass roads have routed traffic around the small town.
It’s quaint and historic with a walking tour beginning near the town’s visitor center. Seventeen structures in the 1732 town are on the National Register of Historic Places. Some are from the early 1800s through the early 1900s when most of the current town was built.
The restored downtown includes some shopping with art and boutiques and dining in a few very good restaurants. Festivals on the riverfront are popular community gatherings with arts, crafts, entertainment and plenty of food and beverage.
