Sea Captain’s House

Waterfront restaurant (l,d: $$)

Sea Captain’s House is a traditional favorite of locals and visitors alike. It’s in a central location with one of the best views to be found. Sometimes dolphin splash along in front of the old oceanfront cottage.

Locals and visiting media frequently vote this restaurant in the top restaurants in South Carolina.

The patio welcomes breakfast and lunch diners in bathing suits. Live music on the patio during the busy summer season is a nice evening treat while waiting to be seated. Reservations are not accepted, and dinner seating almost always requires a wait at the bar or on the patio.

What to Eat at Sea Captain’s House

The daily breakfast buffet is a great deal where Mr. Rodney is folding special omelets to go with biscuits, gravy, grits and much more.

The chef is renowned for special seafood and dessert creations. A daily fish is often the best choice and always fresh. The Captain’s Seafood Muddle is an interesting concoction with tomato flavor, potatoes, celery and bacon giving it a stew-type consistency. The Jambalaya served over dirty rice is a great spicy food if you want the heat! Stuffed Flounder or Lowcountry Crab Casserole also are unsurpassed for flavor, freshness and creativity. The dessert of Southern Pecan Pie should not be missed…unless the Key Lime Pie is a greater temptation.
