Church of the Good Shepherd

Most photographed building in NZ?

Church of the Good Sheperd. Lake Tekapo. NZ

Those who built this pretty little stone church in 1935 would be more than a tad surprised to see its popularity as a Tekapo icon for visitors.

It’s a lovely spot overlooking the turquoise lake, but can get crowded when a couple of tour buses pull up.

Don’t miss the sheepdog statue nearby - a tribute to the dogs who helped develop what is now known as the Mackenzie Country.
