Gocta waterfalls

Worth the hike

One of the tallest waterfalls in the world, the Gocta waterfalls are over 700 meters (2,300 feet). It has only recently been developed as a tourist attraction since 2002, with a trail that takes about three hours hiking.

Practicalities

Many tour agencies in Chachapoyas offer tours to the waterfalls. You can also take a colectivo to Puente de Cocahuaico, which takes about an hour. From there it’s a 30 minute taxi ride to the trailhead in the town of Cocachimba.
