Green House Tambopata
Best eco-lodge you can drive to
Green House Tambopata is on the Tambopata River, but it’s faster to drive there from town. The lodge has a beautiful river view, two climbing walls and several cabins. This is a good spot if you want to stay close to Puerto Maldonado but still do day tours from a lodge on the river.
The owner is very focused on sustainable development, both in terms of protecting the wildlife that visitors come to see and in terms of protecting the region from illegal logging and mining. He works with nearby communities to teach children about both rainforest conservation and how to climb on the lodge’s climbing walls.
The rooms have high ceilings and are open to the breeze, with lots of screens and posts to put mosquito nets on the beds. The rooms also have hammocks inside the screens so you can relax in a hammock without worrying about mosquitoes.
