Huchuy Picchu

The easiest hike

View from Huchuy Picchu

Huchuy Picchu is the new hike, added in 2022. It doesn’t have any ruins but the view is much better than you might expect, as you can tell from the photo above! This is now route 3D.

If you want to hike Huayna Picchu but either it’s sold out or you’re not excited about a steep & slippery trail where people have fallen over a thousand feet and died, you should do Huchuy Picchu.

Huayna Picchu and Huchuy Picchu

You don’t get exactly the same view as from Huayna Picchu, but it’s similar and in some ways better. Since you’re lower down and closer to the ruins, it’s easier to recognize places you just walked through.

Also, since the hike is only about 20 minutes each way, you don’t feel like you have to rush at the top.

Unlike Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain, there is no extra charge for hiking Huchuy Picchu.
