Mount Accoyac

Hike near Sangarará

Mount Accoyac

This hike starts in Sangarará, the same town I recommend people start at to hike Waqra Pukará. This is a full day, high altitude hike, but the views are worth it.

I highly recommend going with a guide, as the trail is not well marked. If you want a new route that few people have hiked, this is for you.

Local guides are available in town, which I recommend over guides from Cusco because it is not well known. If you need an English-speaking guide, interview guides in Cusco carefully to be sure that they actually have been to this peak.

The best way to get to Sangarará is with the bus company Expreso El Zorro, which is the bus line that goes from Cusco to Acomayo. The bus office and station is at Avenida Cusco 494 in Cusco’s San Sebastian neighborhood.
