St-Saturnin-lès-Apt
A pretty village with great views
This picturesque, sleepy provençal village of St-Saturnin-lès-Apt is located in the foothills of the Vaucluse Plateau just above the small town of Apt-en-Provence itself.
The castle still dominates the village which, while not officially a Plus Beau Village, certainly should be! The Château is nowadays a ruin although the Porte Ayguier remains. If you climb the rocky path to the castle you will be rewarded with a great view of the Luberon.
Cherry Blossom
Today St-Saturnin is famous for its cherries – their blossom in springtime is well worth visiting the Luberon to see at this time of year. There are walks from here but between September and March watch out for the shooters enjoying ‘La Chasse’. Be sure to wear a bright colour!
Département: Vaucluse
Market day: Tuesday morning.
