Opéra Plage
The pick of Nice's beaches
Right across from the Cours Saleya and the Quai des Étas Unis lies the best known of all the beaches at Nice, Opéra Plage.
Located between Beau Rivage Plage and Ponchettes Plage, Opera Plage (see map) is a relatively quiet stretch because traffic flows are less on the Quai des États Unis unlike the adjoining Promenade des Anglais which can get quite noisy!
Like many beaches in France part of Opéra Plage is private and part is public and free of charge. The private part belongs to the Opéra Plage Beach-Restaurant and you have to hire a chair and parasol.
From the beach you go kayaking, parasailing, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Facilities such as a portable toilet are available in summer but both toilets and showers can be found on the nearby Beau Rivage beach.
NOTE: There is no lifeguard on the public part of Opéra Plage but there is one at Centenaire Plage to the east and Beau Rivage to the west.
Département: Alpes-Maritimes.
The nearest bus stop is Albert 1er, near the Tourist Office west of the beach. There you’ll find buses 8, 11, 52, 59, 60, 70, 94, 98, 200, 230, 400, 500.
