Campervans & Motorhomes

About as independent as travel gets

VW T25 by the Beach

The campervan has become a very popular way of exploring Scotland – producing a few grumbles about their prevalence in some of the country’s quieter corners.

However it’s usually pretty easy to find a quiet spot to park up for the night for free – many in glorious surroundings – and if you act responsibly you should be welcome enough.

There are plenty of campgrounds dotted around too – you might try a booking site like Pitchup to find them.

If you have visions luxurious of travelling in a larger motorhome, consider first if the extra space is worth the more limited access you’ll have to more remote roads. Anything over 16ft is either not recommended or forbidden on many minor and “B” roads.

Rentals

Prices of campervan and motorhome rentals vary tremendously with size and season, but start from around the £60/day mark.
