Polvorones
Crumbly shortbread

Small crumbly, shortbread-like dulces made from flour, sugar, lard, cinnamon and almonds which are very popular at Christmas when they are often served up with mazapán and turrón.
Polvorones get their name from polvo, the Spanish word for dust or powder. They are very similar to another dulce known as mantecados and can be flavoured with coconut.
